S: How and when did you start collecting?
CVR: I have been a collector of various things since childhood, but my pop culture collecting started about 3 years ago when I purchased a Black Panther Funko Pop from a bookstore. This little figure sat alone sat on my desk in my study for a while and then I started researching and buying more and eventually had almost 200. It wasn't long before I became involved in the collecting community and was introduced to Hot Toys and then eventually statues.
S: What do you collect? Does your collection have a theme, such as Star Wars, Batman, superheroes, etc.?
CVR: I collect mainly Marvel, DC & Star Wars with some items from my favourite childhood movies like Ghostbusters and Back to the Future thrown in here and there.
S: What are your favourite or the most prized pieces in your collection? And why?
CVR: Haha, that is like choosing a favourite child! I love everything that I currently own as I have sold on the items that I didn't really like that much. That being said, the XM Studios Modern Thor statue is very good!
S: What items are on your wishlist?
CVR: There are so many! I still need to get the perfect 1/4 scale Batman. I have my eye on a few, but haven't made a final decision yet. I have plans to do an original X-Men collection in 1/4 scale with some already on order and then I would also love to have a good licensed Fantastic Four collection.
S: What do you think of the collecting community in SA?
CVR: In a country with so many challenges the local collecting community is a breath of fresh air. I interact with collectors from different races and cultural backgrounds on an almost daily basis and I am very privileged to call many of them my friends.
