S: How and when did you start collecting?
RF: Started collecting back in 2015 - there used to be a small comic shop in my area called Steam Punk comics. I used to go in there every weekend and just stare at the epic figures and statues. Eventually I convinced myself to spend the money and bought a small Kotobukiya ArtFx+ Iron Man 1/10 scale statue - ever since that day I was hooked into collecting. I collected smaller pvc statues for a couple of years before I eventually got a taste of the good stuff. I got my first 1/4 scale statue about 3 years ago and the detail was amazing! I could never justify myself spending money on a statue or collectible till I saw it for myself - all I can say is this hobby is amazing.
S: What do you collect? Does your collection have a theme, such as Star Wars, Batman, superheroes, etc.?
RF: My collection is focused towards Avengers, however there is always room to grow in the Marvel range, i would love to own all the main Marvel characters, but this is a long time goal of mine to fulfil. Also want to start a Marvel villians collection.
S: What are your favourite or the most prized pieces in your collection? And why?
RF: Very difficult question to answer for me. I collect 1/4 scale statues and 1/6 scale Hot Toys and love every piece I own. Sometimes I just sit in my small man cave and stare at these pieces and the amazing details. But currently my favourite piece I own is a close tie between my Sideshow Captain America and XM Studios Sandman, but this will be changing very soon, with XM Studios Thanos arriving this year.
S: What items are on your wishlist?
RF: My ultimate goal would be to own the XM Studios HulkBuster, since I saw this piece in person it blew me away. One day I will own that statue. As well as the new Queen Studios Iron Man range, I would definitely love to own the Iron Man Mk1 that they will release in the near future.
S: What do you think of the collecting community in SA?
RF: The SA collecting community is an epic family/brotherhood - I have met some amazing people and made some even better lifelong friends through the collecting community. It's amazing to see how helpful everyone is when a new collector joins this hobby, everyone assists and helps each other.
