S: How and when did you start collecting?
CH: I went to Damian’s house the one weekend to help my mother's company setup for his daughters birthday party. Tracey mentioned to me that Damian is in his man cave and I should go say hi. I walk in there and all around me were these “statue things.” When we left I told my wife about it and said I can't believe that someone can waste their money on rubbish like that. Time passed and Damian was sending me some pics of statues and i started liking them more and more. Then came lockdown. I started going through the Symbiote website and started taking a keen interest in what i was looking at. I soon ordered my first piece. From there it all snowballed!!
S: What do you collect? Does your collection have a theme, such as Star Wars, Batman, superheroes, etc.?
CH: I have always loved superheroes. So obviously my first orders were superheroes from the XM DC 1/6 Rebirth range. From there it branched out to the XM Marvel 1/4 range. For now I'm sticking to that.
S: What are your favourite or the most prized pieces in your collection? And why?
CH: For me to select a favourite piece is so difficult!! There is just no way i can narrow it down to one. So for now it's Hulk Transformation and Deathstroke!! The detail on them is just mental!! If you look at the colouring of Deathstroke - it's off the hook. Hulk's detail, and just the overall craftsmanship, makes it stand out and at this stage it is the centre piece of my stand. That being said, I have Harley Quinn on Throne coming as well as Suicide Squad Prime 1 Harley Quinn. So let's see if they can top those two.
S: What items are on your wishlist?
CH: My wishlist consists of KINGPIN!!! (Such an attitude piece) Spider-man (XM Studio Marvel 1/4 scale) and lastly Deadpool!! (But I'm yet to find one that catches my attention).
S: What do you think of the collecting community in SA?
CH: With me being fairly new to the collecting community most of my interaction has been on facebook. At first i was nervous to post pics of my collection because of the amazing collections i have seen!! The thoughts run through your mind of, what are they gonna say? Are they going to like it? If you post a pic, a question or just ask for advice on facebook no matter what it is, the comments are always positive and advice always very helpful!!!
